Happy Days Program

our philosophy

Nurturing Growth and Learning

At Happy Days, we provide quality childcare that celebrates the uniqueness of each family and child. We respect every child’s personality, cultural background, and developmental level, offering a stimulating, safe, and nurturing environment tailored to their needs and interests.

Our programs are carefully designed to promote early childhood development, recognising its profound impact on a person’s growth through childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Children are motivated and challenged through a balanced mix of indoor and outdoor, child-centred, hands-on activities. These include biblically-based instruction, crafts, games, music, literacy, numeracy, life skills, and health education.

Our approach fosters a positive self-image and supports the development of respect for self and others, social skills, and a sense of responsibility, laying the foundation for lifelong growth and success.

3 months to 5 years: Programs follow NELDS (National Early Learning Developmental Areas) and the DBD curriculum, focusing on foundational development.

We provide care for children aged 3 months to Grade R, with aftercare available for ages 6–14 years

Programs

Engaging Daily Program

Our daily program for Toddlers, Preschoolers, and Grade R offers a fun and structured learning experience.

January: School holidays and class orientation, helping children settle in with new teachers and routines.

February: Teacher orientation and curriculum introduction (1st–15th), followed by formal teaching from the 15th.

Each day includes:
Circle Time, Art Projects, Songs and Stories, Learning Games, and many more

Our curriculum features monthly themes like “Frog Week” or “Spring Day,” broken into engaging weekly activities. These promote school readiness, encouraging good manners, strong character, and social skills through creative play.

Children develop pre-maths skills, learning to identify numbers (1–20), the alphabet, shapes, counting, sorting, and sequencing. Through music, stories, and games, we build language skills that prepare children for reading and lifelong learning.

Weather Chart and Calendar: Children observe the weather, update the chart, and add the day’s number to our Velcro calendar. Together, we sing the “7 Days of the Week” song.

Circle Time: Children gather for games and activities, like identifying farm animals and their sounds during themed weeks.

Outdoor Play: Daily outdoor free play in fenced-in playgrounds, with age-appropriate groups and constant supervision. Sandpits are treated regularly for safety.

Games and Activities: Puzzles, colouring, and interactive learning games teach numbers, letters, and more. Activities like cutting and ripping paper or using beads and pegboards enhance fine motor skills.

Learning Letters: Alphabet games, worksheets, art projects, and charts help children recognise and practise letters.

Creative Play: Toys like Lego, dollhouses, and cooking utensils encourage imaginative play and social interaction.

Storytime: Daily themed stories, often using props, puppets, or felt boards, to inspire imagination.

Songs: Interactive songs tied to weekly themes, like London Bridge or If You’re Happy and You Know It.

Art Projects: Weekly themes guide creative activities, like making a multi-day cow project for “Farm Animal Week,” incorporating colouring, cutting, and gluing.

Our activities help children learn while having fun, fostering development across all areas of early childhood growth.
