1 – 2 Years
At this age, children love to play and explore. Our hands-on learning program is designed for toddlers aged 1–2 years. With heuristic play materials, a touch of Montessori, and age-appropriate preschool themes, toddlers enjoy group activities, art and sensory play, learning time, and fun songs and rhymes to capture their attention and support their growth.

Heuristic Play
Offers toddlers different types of textures and items to explore and to help them develop their senses; touch, smell, hearing, sight and taste. Some items include plastic jars, wooden spoons, egg cartons and many other items.
Sharing
Toddlers don’t always like to share and the types of items we try to use in our curriculum are mostly items that are easy to provide a lot of them so there is plenty of items to go around and less stress to the toddlers “feeling they need to share”.
Sensory Activities
We have tried to provide a lot of sensory activities which include touching different textures such as fake fur, corduroy, felt and other types of textures along with handling different types of items such as metal cans (no sharp edges) jar covers, and many other items along with some water play, plus glue and paint activities.
Learning through Play
Some of the learning activities can’t be mastered by all the toddlers, don’t worry toddlers can actually learn a lot from playing, through play they learn a lot of new skills that they will use now and in the future.
Hands on Learning
Where the young toddlers will learn by using their five senses by seeing pictures, by handling the learning materials and will actually start learning a few basic shapes and colours as well as hands-on learning activities that also include simple crafts such as colouring with chunky crayons, painting and using glue.
2 – 5 Years
For children aged 2 – 5 years, our program encourages thinking, reasoning, and discovery. Each day includes circle time, art projects, songs, stories, and learning games. Our fun monthly curriculum, broken down into weekly themes like ‘Frog Week,’ ‘Butterfly Week,’ or ‘Alphabet Week,’ keeps learning fresh and engaging.
Our program promotes school readiness skills, social skills, good manners, and strength of character while fostering creative play. Through themed activities, songs, and games, children learn in a positive, interactive environment.
They’ll also build foundational skills by learning numbers 1 through 20, the alphabet, and pre-math concepts like shapes, counting, sorting, and sequencing. With daily circle time, music, and stories, children naturally develop language skills to support them as they prepare for reading.
Grade R
Our Grade R class follows the Western Cape Education Department CAPS curriculum, providing a structured learning environment to prepare 6–7-year-olds for primary school. With a focus on foundational skills, children learn shapes, colours, the alphabet in both upper and lowercase, numbers, basic time-telling, and early sounds.
Hands-on math, literacy, and life skills activities, including simple science projects, foster engagement and practical learning. Children will practice using glue, paint, scissors, tracing, and pre-math and pre-reading skills through fun projects like sorting fruits from vegetables.
We believe children learn best when they’re having fun, so our program uses enjoyable, interactive activities to build essential skills for school readiness.
After School Care
Our aftercare facilities cater to primary school children in the afternoon when their primary school schedule ends. We also have a full-day facility during the school holidays which includes fun activities.
Our school buses collect children from the surrounding schools and bring them back safely to Happy Days where parents can collect them. The surrounding schools where we collect children from are: Bergvliet, Westcott, Southfield Primary, St Annes, Plumstead Prep, John Graham, Timour Hall, Wynberg Girls, Wynberg Boys and Springfield.
During school terms children have a supervised program of homework period, outdoor play, relaxing and other supplementary fun activities
Cooked lunches are provided.
